Retreat Houses
Ignatian spirituality, the vision of the relationship between God and the human person grounded in the mystical experiences of St. Ignatius Loyola, has its primary expression in his book, Spiritual Exercises. More than 20 retreat houses and spirituality centers in the United States provide a variety of services based on the Spiritual Exercises. Some 200 Jesuits are engaged full-time in directing people through the Exercises -- clergy, men and women religious and lay people. Jesuits who are primarily committed to other apostolates often share their spirituality with colleagues and students through retreats and spiritual direction. Many men and women around the world have found a spiritual home in Ignatian Spirituality. St. Ignatius’ Spiritual Exercises are the basis of every White House Retreat. The men and women of White House are part of the worldwide spiritual family of people who continue to be nourished by the teachings of St. Ignatius.
Three-day preached retreats are offered throughout the year. On each retreat there are four or five priests available for private conferences and the celebration of the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick. Mass is celebrated each day and at night there is Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
